Maritimo Interior Design – The journey within your Maritimo journey.
Over the past few years, Maritimo has taken the interior design of its luxury motor yachts to an entirely new level—elevating the onboard experience to match the brand’s world-class engineering and renowned ocean-going performance.
What was once a more standardised approach has evolved into a highly curated, deeply personal design journey. Today, the interior of a Maritimo is just as integral to its identity as its signature sleek lines and purposeful exterior.
This transformation is most evident in the introduction of carefully developed interior collections that empower owners to personalise every detail of their vessel. The creative force behind this evolution is Maritimo’s interior design team, led by Niamh Brennan and Sonya Romeo of The Textile & Design Studio. Their vision has shaped a program that is as practical as it is elegant—designed to reflect the client’s personal style while delivering consistency and precision to the build process.
“It’s about giving owners the ability to personalise their yacht, while also giving our production team clarity and consistency,” explains Romeo. “We’ve adjusted hull lining placements and added refined touches to ceilings, pelmets, and panels to ensure each interior feels lighter, more open, and beautifully finished.”
“We’ve also introduced decorative and highly durable Sunbrella fabrics for staterooms and shared spaces. These are bleach- and chemical-resistant, backed by a five-year warranty, and available in exclusive designs crafted specifically for Maritimo,” says Romeo.
Functionality and elegance walk hand-in-hand in the latest design refinements—like timber feature wall panelling in the accommodation deck, now popular with owners in cooler climates such as New Zealand and the northern United States. These elements not only enhance warmth and atmosphere, but also reflect the evolving desires of Maritimo clients globally.
To support this elevated design process, Maritimo has recently unveiled a bespoke interior design studio at its Gold Coast-based factory—a serene, purpose-built environment created to mirror the understated luxury of the yachts themselves.
Clients are warmly welcomed into a private lounge, where they’re offered their beverage of choice—be it a barista-made coffee, crisp sparkling water, or a glass of chilled Pommery champagne. From there, they are invited into the design studio for a one-on-one consultation. The setting is refined, calming, and inspiring—an ideal space to create, imagine, and collaborate.
“It’s more than a traditional showroom—it’s an experience,” says Romeo. “Clients feel relaxed, heard, and creatively involved in every decision.”
It begins with the Maritimo Virtual Configurator— available to anyone on the website, this intuitive online tool is displayed on the screen to allow clients to explore the visual possibilities of their yacht’s interior. From there, the experience moves from digital to tactile.
Included in this process has been the introduction of four handcrafted and highly bespoke interior design boxes. Custom-made for Maritimo, these beautifully finished kits are fitted with soft foam compartments, showcasing the brand’s premium timbers, soft furnishings, colour palettes, and finish options.
Each client selects from three premium timber species—Oak, Teak, and Walnut—paired with four core colour themes: Dune, Haven, Oyster, and Cove. These provide a modern yet timeless base that can be layered with a choice of soft furnishing packages inspired by iconic Australian destinations—Kimberley (ochre and earth tones), Balmoral (black and white), Hamilton (soft denim blue), and Hayman (classic navy). These themes carry through cushions, throws, linens, bedheads, and more—ensuring visual harmony throughout.
“Dune and Cove reflect more traditional taupe and beige palettes, while Haven and Oyster lean into cooler greys. We balance these with leather and vinyl options to ensure the design complements the owner’s vision—and enhances resale value,” Romeo adds.
Complimenting the virtual configurator, clients are also shown 360 virtual tours of existing interiors to help the client see their vision and guide them to their final selection.
Importantly, this premium experience isn’t limited to the factory. The same interior design boxes and online tools are available in showrooms across the globe—to sales offices, international Maritimo dealerships, and boat shows—ensuring a consistent and elevated design journey for every client, no matter where they are.
“We also send physical samples to clients for them to touch and hold, then they work through their preferences using the interior design boxes on location to create a final mood board. Whether they’re overseas, at a boat show, or visiting us at the factory, they’re always supported, ” says Romeo.
Throughout the process, the Maritimo Interior Design team brings invaluable expertise, guiding owners through a balance of creativity and functionality. From the initial virtual concept to the final timber selection, fabric choice, and layout detailing, the interiors speak of craftsmanship, care, and confidence.
Ultimately, the interior finishes bring a Maritimo yacht to life. The final effect is seen throughout—from the master stateroom and guest cabins, to the main saloon and bridge deck. Accent colours, fabric tones, bedrails, panelling, and trims all work in harmony to reflect the personality of the owner, while preserving the timeless elegance that defines the Maritimo brand.
Just as a Maritimo is designed to explore the world, the interior design process is a journey in itself—one that transforms a vessel into a sanctuary. It is both an expression of individual style and a celebration of craftsmanship. Whether cruising along the Australian coast, navigating international waters, or docked at a prestigious marina, every Maritimo interior tells a story—refined, luxurious, and unmistakably yours.
